I'm an M.Sc. Geology student at the University of Houston, and I'll complete my M.Sc. in May 2023. I currently investigate regional flexure in the U.S. midcontinent using finite difference models that I build with Python to approximate contributions to vertical motion from mantle dynamics. I will continue as a Ph.D. in Fall 2023. As a Ph.D. student, I'd like to investigate computer vision and deep learning applications for sedimentary geology. I want to create and test a model that identifies rocks and textures and then roll that out as a mobile app for use in the field by non-expert geologists and recreational hikers. My most significant contribution to AI thus far is through the Geophysics in the Cloud 2022 contest. My team developed the first-place solution, and we helped contribute to an open-source reinforcement learning framework for drilling rig placement and optimization (https://github.com/GeoML-SIG/wildcatter).
