Audri Phillips is a visual designer/art director, 3D animator, content creator, and immersive media specialist based in Los Angeles. Audri has a wide range of experience that includes over 25 years working in the visual effects/entertainment industry in studios such as; Sony, Rhythm & Hues, Digital Domain, Disney, and Dream Works feature animation. Starting out as a fine art painter, she was quickly drawn to time-based art. Her interest in science and technology has always played a part in her work. She has been a pioneer of using cutting-edge technology in her computer animation/art and in experimental work including; immersive media performances, full dome, and VR/AR. Currently, Audri is a member of the Intel Innovators Group, writes online articles for Intel, a member of ADN (Autodesk Developers Network), a resident artist at Vortex Immersion Media, and a consultant and researcher for a start-up patent technology company, Stratus Systems. She is the creator, co-founder, and director of Robot Prayers, an immersive transmedia project which explores AI and our hybrid identities in a world where man and machine are melding. Over the past six years she has created/animated/designed/directed over six fulldome innovative shows at The Vortex Dome in Los Angeles such as; the immersive ballet, Blue Apple(for which she was given a grant to create), with choreographer, Stefan Wenta (Reds, Logan’s Run), an immersive arts+music showcase piece with cellist, Ha-MAN! and opera singer ??? for Red Bull, an immersive arts+music concert series and VR piece with composer/musician, Steve Roach, as well as creating a number of cinematic and interactive VR pieces using Autodesk Maya, Touch Designer, and Unreal Engine. Her VR piece, Migrations, is featured on the Samsung indie channel as well as the fulldome version in DTLA Fulldome festival 2019, All of her fulldome pieces have been shown in festivals and conferences around the world. Audri has a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and has been an adjunct professor at a number of universities in Los Angeles. She recently taught a fulldome masterclass in Shanghai, China, spoke at and had her work shown at the VR Conference in Toronto, Canada.
